Church Support & Development Division

“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

(Matthew 16:18)

The Michael Moyo International’s Church Support & Development Division is structured to assist the Body of Christ in various capacities to enhance church growth, advancement and fruitfulness. Headed by the Church Support & Development Director, the division functions through the Church Leaders Network; a network of various leaders (from the 5-fold ministry, i.e, Teachers, Pastors, Evangelists, Prophets and Apostles) from the Pentecostal/Evangelical circles across Africa, Latin America, and beyond.

The division is designed to execute the will of the LORD JESUS CHRIST in this latter dispensation, in order for the Body of Christ to fulfil her earthly mandate of spreading the gospel and to eventually inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

The division also comprises of an intercessory outfit: The Intercessory Group; a group of prayer warriors/intercessors from various churches aimed at ‘standing in the gap’ for the Church, as per Ezekiel 22:30. By standing in the gap, the division seeks to be a ‘watchman’ and a ‘prophetic voice’ to the Body of Christ.

The division is a key factor in the creation of the International Church Organizationa network or a body of churches from all over the world, that comprises of a remnant church that puts great emphasis on the LORD JESUS CHRIST; to birth a generation that is wholly dedicated to HIM - in HOLINESS and TRUTH -  to do great exploits before the Rapture of the Church, and to eventually inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

The division funds its activities from the Church Support & Development Fund (Church Finance Trust), and handles all matters pertaining to the Church and kingdom-based initiatives as per the company's Corporate Social Responsibility Charter, through the following programs:

Understanding the Church: A Brief Description

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

(John 3:16)

The word church means assembly’ or congregation of the called-out ones, who are the redeemed of the Lord,’ or the born again believers - who form the BODY OF CHRIST (Ephesians 1:22-23).

The Old Testament prophets described the Church in glowing terms, but it was a mystery to them, and is what was to come in between the sufferings of Christ and the glory (1st Peter 1:9-12). That is, in between the cross and the crown.

Jesus, during His ministry, intimated to the disciples that there was to be something He called “The Church, but did not tell them when it would be, or even what it would look like.

Origin of the Church

There could be no foundation for the Church until Christ’s death, resurrection and ascension. Then Christ became the Rock; the Chief Cornerstone, and upon Him the foundation of the Church; the Apostles and the Prophets, was laid. - Ephesians 2:20-22

The Church had its origin in the mind of God before the foundation of the world, yet it did not manifest until after Christ’s death.

In the third year of Christ’s ministry, when Israel had practically rejected Him,  He was entering the shadow of the cross, knowing that the offer of the kingdom to Israel would soon be withdrawn, and the Church be set up. Wishing to prepare His disciples, He asked them: "Who do you say that I am?” And Simon Peter answered: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”  And Jesus responded: “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

The name ‘Peter’ means ‘rock,’ and the ‘rock’ means Christ Himself. Thus, Jesus meant that on Himself as the Rock He would build His Church.

However, there could be no foundation for the Church until Christ’s death, resurrection and ascension. Then Christ became the Rock; the Chief Cornerstone, and upon Him the foundation of the Church; the apostles and the prophets, was laid (Ephesians 2:20-22). Then at Pentecost (Acts 2), the Church was birthed through the Holy Spirit. From there to date, the Church has been growing into a holy temple in the Lord; a habitation of God through the Spirit. Thus, those who believe in God through Christ Jesus make up His temple, His building – HIS CHURCH.

The Church is the Body of Christ

Ephesians 1:22-23 says: “And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” The Church is a BODY of which Christ is the HEAD. 1st Corinthians 12:12-14 says how that body is formed:

“For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body – whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free – and all have been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact, the body is not one member but many.”

The Church is the Temple of God

In 1 Corinthians 3:9-17, the Apostle Paul speaks of the church as a building or temple; a holy habitation of God through the Spirit, of which Christ is the Chief Cornerstone. As God’s presence, the Shekinah glory, was manifested in the tabernacle, so now in this dispensation, when Israel as a nation is out of fellowship with God, with no temple in Jerusalem, the Church, since Pentecost, is the visible habitation of God on earth, where He manifests His glory through the Holy Spirit.

"Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are."

(1 Corinthians 3:16)

The Church is the Bride of Christ

At present, the Church is a virgin espoused. Paul said to the church at Corinth, in 2 Corinthians 11:2, that, “I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy; for I have espoused you to one husband that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”

The First Adam had his bride - Eve. The Second Adam (Christ) must also have His bride: The Church. In Genesis 2:21-24, God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam. As he slept, He took one of his ribs, made it into a woman, and brought her to the man. And Adam said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman."

So it is with Jesus. During His life on earth as a Man, abode alone, a deep sleep – the sleep of death – fell on Him. And out of His wounded side, as a result of the atonement on the cross, came that from which God formed His bride – the Church; to which the breath of life, the Holy Spirit, was breathed upon on the day of Pentecost. So that, just as Adam said of Eve: “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh,” so the Church can say of Christ: “We are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones.” Ephesians 5:29-33.

Mission of the Church

The Lord Jesus gave the gospel to mankind, and the mission of the Church is to carry that gospel to the world as Mark 16:15 says“Go ye into the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved. But he who does not believe will be condemned.”

This gospel is not a system of ethics or a code of morals, but a proclamation of salvation through Christ Jesus. Paul said in Romans 1:16 that, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to those who believe, to the Jew first, but also to the Gentiles.” The purpose of the gospel in this dispensation is not to rescue the society, but to save individual members that are to compose the Body of Christ – the Church. This dispensation of grace is therefore not for the conversion of the world, but for the gathering out of the Saints. The world is growing darker, but the Church – being the light of the world - must shine brighter (Matthew 5:14-16).

Destiny of the Church

The Church is to be “caught out” or “raptured” into heaven, to permanently be with the Lord Jesus. The event will be twofold: of the dead in Christ, and of the living saints (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 1 Corinthians 15:1-58). At the Rapture of the Church, Jesus will come for the saints, and at His Second Coming, He will come with the saints (Zechariah 14:5, Colossians 3:4, 1 Thessalonians 3:13; 4:14). In between the two - an interval of at least seven years - will be the reign of the Antichrist on earth and the tribulation period.

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.”

(1Thessalonians 4:13-18)

Overview of the Church in Kenya

A church service at the Eagles' Nest Church, Nairobi.

Kenya has very many church groupings – with over 4000 registered; a reflection of the freedom of worship enshrined in the country’s constitution. The country’s population is believed to be 80% “Christian.” The old denominations, referred to as the MAINSTREAM CHURCHES, include the Roman Catholic, the Anglican Church, the Full Gospel Churches, the Presbyterian Church of East Africa, the African Inland Church, the Methodist Church, the Adventists, and the Baptist Church. These mainstream churches form the VISIBLE CHURCH.

However, in recent times, Kenya has witnessed a PENTECOSTAL AND/OR EVANGELICAL MOVEMENT that has seen the mushrooming of the PENTECOSTAL CHURCH; characterized by divine power and manifestations of the Holy Spirit. Within this church is the vast majority of the BORN AGAIN BELIEVERS, who constitute the Body of Christ, thereby forming the INVISIBLE CHURCH or the CHURCH OF THE NEWBORN. The Pentecostal Movement churches in Kenya include Redeemed Gospel Church, Deliverance Church, Christco Church, Christ Is the Answer Ministries (CITAM), Winners Chapel, Nairobi Lighthouse Church, Jesus Celebration Centre (JCC), The Joshua Generation, and many others.

It is this Pentecostal/Evangelical Movement, in which the New Born Church is, that the Michael Moyo International is supporting in a well-structured manner as the Holy Spirit leads. The Pentecostal Church in Kenya (and the world over) is facing a myriad of challenges, and we believe our input will bolster the fruitfulness of the Church, not only in Kenya but beyond - especially in these latter times.

“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it.”

(Isaiah 2:2)

CHALLENGES FACING THE PENTECOSTAL/EVANGELICAL CHURCH IN DEVELOPING NATIONS

(FOCUS ON AFRICA)

“In the world you will have tribulations, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

(John 16:33)

  • Many Pentecostal churches in developing nations have inadequate resources. As a result, many lack the bare essentials for effective ministry, like land and proper church structures. Many are in tents, dilapidated buildings, informal structures, or rented spaces. This has greatly inhibited their ability to fully function as some are compelled to keep moving from one location to the other - losing both members and gained spiritual mileages. The Apostle Paul, in 1st Corinthians 4:11, summarized the state of the Body of Christ by saying: “To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless.”
  • Lack of proper preparation by many ministers in the Pentecostal Movement has led to poor management of ministries, exploitation of the flock and poor representation of both God and the gospel. Besides, a good number of professing Pentecostal ministers were neither chosen for ministry nor sent to preach in that capacity, giving rise to false preachers, who have currently flooded the Pentecostal Movement for personal gain. 2nd Corinthians 11:13 speaks of false apostles; deceitful workers who transform themselves into apostles of Christ, when they were never appointed thus.
  • Wrong influence of ‘prosperity gospel,’ leading to the glorification of wealth and materialism at the expense of the true meaning and implications of the gospel. This has greatly corrupted the understanding of divine blessings - leading to greed and covetousness among believers. The Lord Jesus says in Luke 12:15 that, “Take heed, and beware of covetousness, for a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
  • A good number of Pentecostal churches in developing nations are personality-centered, leading to the emergence of personal kingdoms, empires, or entities perceived as ‘family business’ - with the ministers in question wielding tremendous control over the ministry and the flock; the focus being them and not Christ. The Apostle Paul, in 1st Corinthians 1:11-15, addressed the personality-centered faith, when some said they are of Paul, some Apollos, and some Cephas. This is idolatry, and the particular church group is reduced to a cult-like outfit.
  • Many believers in the Pentecostal Movement are highly obsessed with spiritual experiences and manifestations at the expense of true knowledge and walk with God. This has rendered the believers so vulnerable to deception. Many run after miracles, signs and wonders without testing the spirits. 1st John 4:1 says, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
  • Despite the commendable growth and rise of the Pentecostal Movement in developing nations, many believers lack proper grounding due to a deficit of discipleship and mentorship - leading to masses of ‘cosmetic Christians,’ who only have a form of godliness, but neither know God nor understand the workings of His kingdom. This is exacerbated by the fact that there is a general lack of meaningful church membership among Pentecostals, as worshipers tend to move from one church gathering to another at a whim - leading to a lack of accountability. Colossians 2:6-7 says: “As you, therefore, have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him; rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith."
  • The Pentecostal Movement in developing nations is characterized by appalling degrees of competition among ministers, rather than cooperation - leading to divisions and strife within the Body of Christ. Fights over the flock and ministry resources are prevalent, often with gruesome results. This lack of unity has incapacitated the Church in many ways – grieving the Holy Spirit and rendering the Church susceptible to all kinds of attacks. Psalm 133:1-3 says: “Where there is unity, God commands a blessing,” and the Lord Jesus says in Mark 3:24-25 that: “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand, and if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand."
  • A disturbing trend in the Pentecostal Movement today is the decline of quality preaching due to the influence of worldliness and modernity. This has necessitated doctrinal deterioration - leading to a flow of false doctrines and a compromised gospel; the result of which is a Church lost in sin and kept in bondage. Romans 12:2 says: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God."
  • Due to political and tribal tensions often witnessed - especially in African countries like Kenya - many Pentecostal church groupings are evolving into tribal/political factions – especially during elections - breeding hatred and resentment within the Church. This causes the Church to subscribe to political and tribal altars, rendering her compromised in idolatry. This only invokes the LORD’s anger and judgment upon the Church; causing Him to do a purging that leaves only those who are approved in Him to be recognized. 1st Corinthians 11: 19 says: For there must also be factions among you that those who are approved may be recognized among you."
  • In recent times, persecution; the by-product of terrorism as a result of Islamic radicalization, has taken a grip on countries like Kenya and Nigeria - with the Church being among the entities on the receiving end of terror atrocities. This has spread fear and gloom among worshippers, causing many to skip church gatherings and forcing the deployment of armed security agents to protect places of worship. Nonetheless, true believers boldly say: We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed, perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not forsaken, struck down, but not destroyed.” (2nd Corinthians 4:8-9)

Despite the challenges the Church is facing, we believe the best is yet to come, because “the glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the glory of the former, says the LORD (Haggai 2:9).

The Division's Long-Term Plans for Church Support & Development

"Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."

(Psalm 37:5)

  • To establish the Ecclesia Bank Limited in collaboration with other stakeholders - which will be a full-fledged institutional banking establishment under the regulations of the Central Bank of Kenya and the United States Federal Reserve System, and will be tailored on kingdom principles to provide complex financing and advisory functions to church organizations, and also a donor platform to charity entities in developing nations.

This will be a 'reserve bank' for the kingdom of God - through which God's work will be financed in this end-time revival - in preparation for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • To establish the Christ Centered Fellowship Church, which will focus on Christ and Him crucified, and strong advocacy for holiness, truth and righteousness - to build a generation that will not only do great exploits for the LORD JESUS, but eventually inherit the kingdom of God.
  • To build a comprehensive Bible Museum (Living Word Centre), aimed at showcasing God’s plan of salvation from Genesis to Revelation in a museum format as a means of passive evangelism.  This place will also include a church auditorium.
  • To establish the Kingdom University in collaboration with other stakeholders. This university will be geared towards harmonizing education with biblical principles, thereby advancing the kingdom of God in various professions, which in turn influences the various pillars of the society.
  • To establish a Christian broadcasting television station to increase the spread of the gospel, both locally and internationally.
  • To establish comprehensive Christian prayer/convention centres in Kenya and other parts of Africa and Latin America to increase prayer and fellowship instruments to believers.  These will also be retreat centres for visiting Christian missionaries.

Knowing Jesus: The God of the Old Testament is Jesus Christ of the New Testament

'Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off. Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.” And Moses said to the people, “Do not fear; for God has come to test you, and that His fear may be before you, so that you may not sin.” So the people stood afar off, but Moses drew near the thick darkness where God was.'
(Exodus 20:18-20)

The LORD JESUS is the image of the invisible God. He is the embodiment of the Father and the Holy Spirit. He is the LORD God who became flesh and dwelt among us...

He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth; HE is the Word of God that spoke during creation in Genesis; HE is the One who walked in the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day; HE is the One who called Abraham from Ur of the Chaldeans; HE is the One who appeared to Moses in the burning bush; HE is the One who struck Egypt with a mighty hand, and delivered the children of Israel; HE is the One who descended on Mount Sinai with great power and glory, and gave Moses the Ten Commandments; HE is the One who appointed all the kings of Israel; HE is the One who sent Elijah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah and all the prophets, and selected all the judges of Israel; He is the One who visited Abraham with two angels and destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah...

Yet, in all HIS sovereignty, HE became flesh and dwelt among us; HE walked by the Sea of Galilee, yet no one could tell it’s HIM. With great authority, HE spoke and no one could withstand HIS wisdom; the Scribes and Pharisees could not resist HIS power. Diseases fled from HIS presence; demons trembled at HIS sight; the storms calmed before HIM; the multitudes were astonished at HIS great works, and asked, “Who could this be?” The LORD is HIS name!
In great humility HE surrendered into the hands of men for our own sake; that salvation may come to man. HE is the LION, who became the LAMB, and submitted even unto death, yet, even death could not hold HIM; the grave could not restrain HIM; hell could not contain HIM, because HE is the Creator.

HE is the KING OF KINGS and the LORD OF LORDS; HE is the ALPHA AND THE OMEGA; the BEGINNING AND THE END; the Great I AM – the One who sits on the throne.

THE LORD JESUS IS HIS NAME!

The Call To Salvation: Get Born Again Today; Seek the Lord Jesus!

"In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."
(2 Corinthians 6:2)

It is imperative to seek the LORD while He may still be found and to draw near to Him while He is still near. You have eternity before you, for it is appointed for men to die once; afterward, the judgment - either eternal glory with the LORD in heaven or eternal condemnation in hell. Now is the time for salvation, for there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. But those who do not believe are condemned already!

If you are not yet born again, with your whole heart, pray the salvation prayer below, and the Lord Jesus will renew you today, fill you with His Holy Spirit and ease your burden.

"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

(Romans 10:9)
